Prime Minister Gilani addresses in Quetta

Choose the path of peace, as this is the only way for the progress of people of Balochistan and Pakistan,” the Prime Minister said while addressing the passing out parade of the recruits of the Pakistan Army belonging to Balochistan.

“The agenda of these terrorists and extremists is certainly against Pakistan,” Gilani said and urged them to shun this path.

The Prime Minister said those who opt not to heed to this advice must understand that they might delay progress and prosperity of the people of Balochsitan, but they cannot deprive the people from the pace of development for long.

The event was also attended by Chief of the Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani and senior civil and military officials.

Prime Minister earlier reviewed the guard of honor. The young recruits presented him salute and the national anthem was played.

The recruits also exhibited their prowess in anti-terrorist skills and demonstrated ways to neutralize militants.

In his address to the recruits, Prime Minister Gilani said Pakistan was passing through a critical juncture and regretted that some people had chosen the path of terrorism, which was bringing a bad name to the country and to the religion Islam.

Prime Minister Gilani paid rich tributes to the country’s armed forces for their sacrifices to rid the country of the scourge of terrorism.

He said the armed forces and the people of Pakistan stand united to eliminate extremism and terrorism and to bring prosperity and development to the country.

The Prime Minister also lauded the Baloch youth for standing shoulder to shoulder with their brethren from the rest of the country to safeguard country’s sovereignty and integrity.

He said the government had planned to provide jobs to 20,000 youth from Balochistan and appreciated General Kayani and Commander of the Southern Command Lt General Javed Zia for ensuring best possible training to bring the youth from the area into the national mainstream.

He said measures were afoot to provide natural gas in areas of Sui, Pir Koh and Looti. He said the federal government would also provide 30 per cent of its shares from its 50 per cent of the Saindak Project to the Balochistan government.

 (PTI) is, perhaps, the fastest growing political party in Pakistan. 

Many believe, among others, that PTI houses the largest student political wing, the Insaf Students’ Federation, and also the largest following on Facebook, and other social media. Given the fact that approximately 65 percent of Pakistan’s population is under the age of 30 years, and given the Election Commission’s renewed Voter Registration or Deletion Drive, it would be little wonder if all these disciples of the PTI, and of its charismatic Chairman, Imran Khan, are systematically converted into potential and registered voters. Technological innovation, participation of youth, and a sense of revolutionary change appear to be the enduring hallmarks of the PTI ever since the early 1990s when no less than millions of “Imran’s Tigers” sprung to life, rallied around a lone call from him, and got to work on the SKMT project. Now the party brings its message, appeal, and membership possibility to every Pakistani, who spares 30 odd seconds to sms their name and city of residence to 80022.

The 80022 campaign began hardly a few weeks ago. Already, in excess of 350,000 people have enrolled as PTI members! And this has happened without any official marketing or sales campaign, and through exclusive reliance on factors such as word-of-mouth and every Pakistani’s emotions, feelings, and urge to be part, in one manner or another, of not only PTI as a political party, but also social revolution. It is approximated that about 100 million mobile phone users reside within our country, and this may be a revolutionary method for service-centred groups to distribute their services. 

It appears surprising that while the PTI is increasing membership at an exponential rate, other parties that tried to replicate this seem to be failing dismally, despite large outlays on marketing. Perhaps, as the PEW research may indicate, no other political party in Pakistan shares the sheer appeal that is typical of the PTI, Pakistan’s only viable alternative to status quo politicians, both treasury and opposition.

According to party spokespeople, “Our tech savvy, alternative, and young party plans in future to conduct most of its normal business, be it voter registration or political campaigning, through memberships on the 80022 number.” While political opponents had previously been critical of technology, social media, and electronic media as viable methods to build an electoral bank, the PTI continued day-after-day through dedicated workers, youth, students, and women to build upon what today appears the PTI’s core strength. While the Election Commission is likely to chuck out about 37 million bogus votes from the voters’ list, thus hurting traditional parties historically benefiting from those ‘hollow’ votes, the new pool of voters registered is likely to have a heavy quantum of these same social-media-using youth, who plugged into their computers night after night to follow every word from Imran Khan and PTI! These “hidden” pockets of support may more than likely be converted into concrete, congregated votes.

With every other party having taken various turns in governance and having failed, rather miserably every single time, the PTI still brings a stellar record in social services, politics, and preservation of core ideology. PTI spokespeople urge everyone in the nation to please experience the change in grassroots politics, and be a part of the revolution that is silently spreading across the entire length and breadth of Pakistan. They claim that they have “brought you your party to your fingertips – only your name and a city of residence to be sms-ed to 80022!”

Sattar denies Wikileaks MQM

Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Farooq Sattar has strongly denied a secret US cable quoting him as saying that certain MQM workers were involved in May 12 mahyem,. 


Sattar said the real victim of May 12 was the MQM and his party’s stance had been clear on the issue.

He stated that May 12 was a horrible act and a conspiracy against his party. "Propaganda is being spread against the MQM and we have faith that this propaganda will not be successful" Sattar said.

Wikileaks had revealed that MQM leader Dr. Farooq Sattar said certain MQM workers, former president Pervez Musharraf, landlords, Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) and other political parties were involved in the May 12, 2007 mayhem in Karachi.

A diplomatic cable sent from Karachi to Washington on 17 May, 2007 contained details of a 40-minute phone conversation between Sattar and Charge d'affaires US Consulate Peter Boday. During the conversation Sattar admitted that certain members of his party were involved in the May 12 incident and the party should consider unarming its militant wing.

Sattar had informed government officials about those involved in the incident. Sattar said that slogans chanted in favour of Musharraf were not made on his recommendation and MQM Chief Altaf Hussain had dismissed his recommendation on the issue.karachi

Home Minister Sindh, Manzoor Wasan said Monday that target killing in the city had been stopped and terrorists would also be eliminated Wasan was visiting the Defence area where a suicide attack took place at the residence of SSP CID Chaudhry Aslam. The home minister said terrorists wanted to show that they would not let Khi remain peaceful and another conspiracy was being hatched against the city. Wasan announced compensation of Rs 2 million for families of the six policemen who were killed in the attack and also said that compensation would be paid to the family of the woman and child who were killed.

Nawaz Sharif calls for strict punishment against Karachi violence

 PML-Nawaz Chief Nawaz Sharif said  that strict punishment should be given to those behind the violence in Khi Geo News reported.
Sharif said the present government was ruining the situation in the country on purpose and if the right decision meant calling for a revolution than he would make that call. Sharif added that if the government stopped extravagant spending than there would be no need for international assistance. Sharif who was addressing workers during a party convention said many parties were behind the violence and the city was destabilised on purpose. “If the situation was solved in parliament than the court would not have to take notice” said Sharif who also attributed the governments failure as the reason behind the violence. On the electricity shortfall in the country, Sharif said the government could end loadshedding. “If there is electricity than several problems will be solved” Sharif said.
