Seven people more die of dengue in Lahore



At least seven more patients died of dengue fever in the city on Thursday, bringing this season's death toll to 89 in the provincial metropolis and 93 in Punjab.
The Health Department has, however, reported 40 confirmed deaths and 18 are suspected to have occurred due to dengue fever in Punjab so far. The total death toll included five confirmed deaths and five suspected to have died due to dengue fever in Lahore on Thursday.

out of seven reported deaths in Lahore, three patients, Kanwal, 35, Muhammad Boota, 65 and Muhammad Hasan, 64, residents of a locality behind the LGH in Kot Lakhpat area, died of dengue fever in the Lahore General Hospital, two patients, Muhammad Saleem, 55, residents of Outfall Road and Zahid Aziz, 35, a resident of Raj Garh, died in the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Nasreen Fatima, 30, a resident of Basti Saiden Shah, Upper Mall, died in the Mayo Hospital and Muhammad Zafar, 32, a resident of Gulberg, died of dengue fever on Thursday.
Besides, as many as 815 patients have been tested dengue fever positive on Thursday, taking the tally of patients to 15,462 in Lahore alone.
As many as 152 patients were tested positive in the Mayo Hospital, 102 in the Children's Hospital, 77 in the Jinnah Hospital, 62 in the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, 25 in the Services Hospital, 40 in the Lahore General Hospital, 91 in the Shaikh Zayed Hospital, 69 in the Institute of Public Health and another 197 in different public and private hospitals and laboratories in the provincial metropolis.
According to the Health Department's report released on Thursday, the total number of dengue patients reported in Punjab from January 2011 to-date has reached 8,820 out of which over 7,992 were diagnosed in Lahore alone. As many as 603 new dengue fever cases have been reported in Punjab out of which at least 499 fresh cases have been reported in Lahore during the last 24 hours.
